Why establish the Athens School of Ministry & Worship Arts?
Numerous believers have indicated a high degree of interest in a local school that offers ministry preparation. Many area churches recognize that they can’t meet all of the needs to equip their members for specific types of lay ministry. The college will provide an opportunity for students to engage in real ministry opportunities supported by coursework in a Christian environment with instructors qualified to provide biblically-centered teaching.

What is the difference between the Athens School of Ministry & Worship Arts and a seminary?
Seminaries are uniquely graduate institutions, often affiliated with a specific denomination. ASM&WA will offer flexible undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students to answer the call to church-affiliated ministry or ministry in other career areas. ASM&WA graduates with a bachelor’s degree will be qualified for full-time vocational ministry in some denominations. Graduates will have gained practical experience through their real-life ministry apprenticeships.
What doctrinal beliefs will be taught at the Athens School of Ministry & Worship Arts?
ASM&WA is an interdenominational college, focusing on the core Christian doctrine of salvation through belief in the resurrected Christ. ASM&WA does not seek to create a “new religion,” but rather to equip students’ heads and hearts so that they may serve as His hands and feet for the purpose of Christ-centered kingdom transformation.
Where is the Athens School of Ministry & Worship Arts located?
Initially, the college will be conveniently situated in Grace Hall of Watkinsvill First United Methodist Church on the corner of Hwy 441 and New High Shoals Road. Students who wish to dual enroll in ASM&WA and other colleges may do so easily.

Is ASM&WA an accredited college?
The process of accrediation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is a multi-year process. The Board of Trustees is working to ensure that ASM&WA will be fully accredited for its graduates.
Will there be student housing at ASM&WA?
No. However, ASM&WA students will find ample available housing in the Athens area, within close vicinity of the school.
